Erasing the FIP TOC header present in a flash is replaced by updating NV flags with an error code on image load/authentication failure. BL1 component uses these NV flags to detect whether a firmware update is needed or not. These NV flags get cleared once the firmware update gets completed. And from crash_console_flush. We ignore the error information return by console_flush in _every_ place where we call it, and casting the return type to void does not work around the MISRA violation that this causes. Instead, we collect the error information from the driver (to avoid changing that API), and don't return it to the caller. The watchdog is configured with a default value of 256 seconds in order to implement the Trusted Board Boot Requirements. For the FVP and Juno platforms, the FWU process relies on a watchdog reset. In order to automate the test of FWU, the length of this process needs to be as short as possible. Instead of waiting for those 4 minutes to have a reset by the watchdog, tell it to reset immediately. There are no side effects as the value of the watchdog's load register resets to 0xFFFFFFFF. Tested on Juno. Change-Id: Ib1aea80ceddc18ff1e0813a5b98dd141ba8a3ff2 Signed-off-by: Ambroise Vincent <ambroise.vincent@arm.com>

Enforce full include path for includes. Deprecate old paths. The following folders inside include/lib have been left unchanged: - include/lib/cpus/${ARCH} - include/lib/el3_runtime/${ARCH} The reason for this change is that having a global namespace for includes isn't a good idea. It defeats one of the advantages of having folders and it introduces problems that are sometimes subtle (because you may not know the header you are actually including if there are two of them). For example, this patch had to be created because two headers were called the same way: e0ea0928 ("Fix gpio includes of mt8173 platform to avoid collision."). More recently, this patch has had similar problems: 46f9b2c3 ("drivers: add tzc380 support"). This problem was introduced in commit 4ecca339 ("Move include and source files to logical locations"). At that time, there weren't too many headers so it wasn't a real issue. However, time has shown that this creates problems. Platforms that want to preserve the way they include headers may add the removed paths to PLAT_INCLUDES, but this is discouraged. This way it can be reused by other platforms if needed. Note that this driver is designed to work with the Versatile Express NOR flash of Juno and FVP. In said platforms, the memory is organized as an interleaved memory of two chips with a 16 bit word. Any platform that wishes to reuse it with a different configuration will need to modify the driver so that it is more generic. The patch 7b56928a unified the FWU mechanism on FVP and Juno platforms due to issues with MCC firmware not preserving the NVFLAGS. With MCCv150 firmware, this issue is resolved. Also writing to the NOR flash while executing from the same flash in Bypass mode had some stability issues. Hence, since the MCC firmware issue is resolved, this patch reverts to the NVFLAGS mechanism to detect FWU. Also, with the introduction of SDS (Shared Data Structure) by the SCP, the reset syndrome needs to queried from the appropriate SDS field. Previously, Juno used to depend on the SSC_GPRETN register to inform about the reset syndrome. This method was removed when SCP migrated to the SDS framework. But even the SDS framework doesn't report the reset syndrome correctly and hence Juno failed to enter Firmware update mode if BL2 authentication failed. In addition to that, the error code populated in V2M_SYS_NVFLAGS register does not seem to be retained any more on Juno across resets. This could be down to the motherboard firmware not doing the necessary to preserve the value. Hence this patch modifies the Juno platform to use the same mechanism to trigger firmware update as FVP which is to corrupt the FIP TOC on authentication failure. The implementation in `fvp_err.c` is made common for ARM platforms and is moved to the new `arm_err.c` file in plat/arm/common folder. The BL1 and BL2 mmap table entries for Juno are modified to allow write to the Flash memory address. This patch adds watchdog support on ARM platforms (FVP and Juno). A secure instance of SP805 is used as Trusted Watchdog. It is entirely managed in BL1, being enabled in the early platform setup hook and disabled in the exit hook. By default, the watchdog is enabled in every build (even when TBB is disabled). A new ARM platform specific build option `ARM_DISABLE_TRUSTED_WDOG` has been introduced to allow the user to disable the watchdog at build time. This feature may be used for testing or debugging purposes. Specific error handlers for Juno and FVP are also provided in this patch. These handlers will be called after an image load or authentication error. On FVP, the Table of Contents (ToC) in the FIP is erased. On Juno, the corresponding error code is stored in the V2M Non-Volatile flags register. In both cases, the CPU spins until a watchdog reset is generated after 256 seconds (as specified in the TBBR document). Change-Id: I9ca11dcb0fe15af5dbc5407ab3cf05add962f4b4

This patch adds the missing features to the C library included in the Trusted Firmware to build PolarSSL: - strcasecmp() function - exit() function - sscanf()* function - time.h header file (and its dependencies) * NOTE: the sscanf() function is not a real implementation. It just returns the number of expected arguments by counting the number of '%' characters present in the formar string. This return value is good enough for PolarSSL because during the certificate parsing only the return value is checked. The certificate validity period is ignored. This patch adds a tool that generates all the necessary elements to establish the chain of trust (CoT) between the images. The tool reads the binary images and signing keys and outputs the corresponding certificates that will be used by the target at run time to verify the authenticity of the images. Note: the platform port must provide the file platform_oid.h. This file will define the OIDs of the x509 extensions that will be added to the certificates in order to establish the CoT. This patch implements the TSP on Juno. It executes from on-chip Trusted SRAM. Also, the other bootloader images (i.e. BL1 R/W, BL2 and BL3-1) have been moved around. The reason is, although there was enough space overall to store the TSP in SRAM, there was no contiguous free chunk of SRAM big enough to hold it. This patch keeps the overall memory layout (i.e. keeping BL1 R/W at the bottom, BL2 at the top and BL3-1 in between) but moves the base addresses of all the bootloader images in such a way that: - memory fragmentation is reduced enough to fit BL3-2 in; - new base addresses are suitable for release builds as well as debug ones; - each image has a few extra kilobytes for future growth. BL3-1 and BL3-2 are the images which received the biggest allocations since they will most probably grow the most. This patch also adds instruction synchronization barriers around the code which handles the timer interrupt in the TSP. This ensures that the interrupt is not acknowledged after or EOIed before it is deactivated at the peripheral. Change-Id: I1c5b51858700027ee283ac85d18e06863a27c72e

Update code base to remove variables from the .data section, mainly by using const static data where possible and adding the const specifier as required. Most changes are to the IO subsystem, including the framework APIs. The FVP power management code is also affected. Delay initialization of the global static variable, next_image_type in bl31_main.c, until it is realy needed. Doing this moves the variable from the .data to the .bss section. Also review the IO interface for inconsistencies, using uintptr_t where possible instead of void *. Remove the io_handle and io_dev_handle typedefs, which were unnecessary, replacing instances with uintptr_t. Fixes ARM-software/tf-issues#107. Change-Id: I085a62197c82410b566e4698e5590063563ed304

The modified implementation uses the IO abstraction rather than making direct semi-hosting calls. The semi-hosting driver is now registered for the FVP platform during initialisation of each boot stage where it is used. Additionally, the FVP platform includes a straightforward implementation of 'plat_get_image_source' which provides a generic means for the 'load_image' function to determine how to access the image data.
